The number of people in the coverage area at any given time is subject to fluctuations in the work day, as well as seasonal differences (such as summer vacations). One of the key challenges for the region is the diversity of its multiple cultures. Numerous languages are spoken, especially in Worcester, Leominster, and Fitchburg which are the largest and most urban of the 74 towns, and have a history of welcoming immigrants. The corresponding range of lifestyles and attitudes toward health require flexible approaches to education and patient care.
